Four Paws Kingdom Foundation
a National Heritage Foundation

Why do we have a foundation?
In 2001 my wife and I
dreamed about starting a new and exciting project which would
accompany us through (what we determined to be) the second half of our
business life.
After a few days of reflection and deliberation, we
loaded the RV, the food and the dogs and off we went to boldly go
where no dreamer had gone before.
4000 miles, 14 states, 137 fast-food
restaurants, thirty-five
campgrounds and many headaches later we knew what we wanted to do:
Build the first and only, dog
dedicated campground for "doggone" crazy folks just like
us in the United States.
Four
Paws Kingdom Campground
was born.
The rest of the story involved
purchasing 32 acres of prime farmland in the North Carolina
foothills, planning the layout and size of the actual campground and
camping facilities, designing the dog-park, the championship size agility
ring, the dog playground, the hiking trails, buying a
tractor, mowing fields, hiring contractors, getting permits, mowing
fields again ... the works.
But there was another side to the
story, that has not yet been told. After talking to many people
along the way, we quickly found out, that there is not only a need
for fun and play, but also for knowledge, education, hands-on
demonstration and information.
